Holiday and Travel Group Header

The purpose of this group is to facilitate and organise holidays and travel opportunities for our members.

This works in two ways –

  1. The bringing together of like minded people to arrange their own holidays so that if someone has an idea of a holiday they want to go on, and seeks one or more companions to go with, they ask for details to be circulated around the group.
That person will then be the contact point for anyone else who would like to go.
It will be up to that group of people to do their own research and make their own bookings.
These holidays will not be official U3A holidays but a group of friends going away together.
  2. An organised trip for members to book into such as the 4 night coach visit to Northumberland and the two night visit to Bletchley Park, Cambridge and Duxford.

Important - here is the serious stuff !

The Group Leaders Handbook contains certain rules which must be adhered to.  In particular -

Personal Travel/Accident/Cancellation Insurance is obligatory for trips abroad, and advisable for UK Trips  and  must be arranged personally by individuals going on any of our trips/holidays. The Organisers are not responsible for your insurance nor for any losses incurred by you if you fail to take out insurance before paying your deposits.

Cancellations – no refunds will be given unless a replacement can be found. Refunds will be limited to the amount paid by the replacement and cancellation charges imposed by the tour/coach company may apply for which you will be liable.

As organisers we cannot accept cash payments or cheques made out to us.

Free places given by the tour /coach operators are shared amongst the participants or used to defray incidental expenses such as the drivers’ gratuity.

General meetings – are for members to socialise and share holiday ideas and experiences - 6pm at The Owl, Hambleton – normally every 2 months.

YAHR Travel - This is the website of the Yorkshire and Humber Region’s travel network. The aim of the travel network is to-

    1. Provide Travel Group Leaders the opportunity to offer their events to other U3A members outside their own U3A
    2. Offer U3A members in Yorkshire and the Humber a wider range of travel opportunities.
