Holiday and Travel Group Header

The purpose of this group is to facilitate and organise holidays and travel opportunities for our members. Important - here is the serious stuff !

The Group Leaders Handbook contains certain rules which must be adhered to.  In particular -

Personal Travel/Accident/Cancellation Insurance is obligatory for trips abroad, and advisable for UK Trips  and  must be arranged personally by individuals going on any of our trips/holidays. The Organisers are not responsible for your insurance nor for any losses incurred by you if you fail to take out insurance before paying your deposits.

Cancellations – no refunds will be given unless a replacement can be found. Refunds will be limited to the amount paid by the replacement and cancellation charges imposed by the tour/coach company may apply for which you will be liable.

As organisers we cannot accept cash payments or cheques made out to us.

Free places given by the tour /coach operators are shared amongst the participants or used to defray incidental expenses such as the drivers’ gratuity. 

General meetings – are for members to socialise and share holiday ideas and experiences - 10.30 am at various venues (see events calendar for details) – normally every 3 months.

Thursday, 13 June 2019 - Quarterly Meeting 10.30am - Old Girls School, Sherburn LS25 6BL

The next full meeting of the Holidays & Travel Group will be on Thursday 13th June - 10.30 am at the Old Girls School, Kirkgate, Sherburn.  Post code LS25 6BL.   £3.00 - this covers £2.50 we pay for tea/coffee & biscuits, room hire, but also 50p added to support the Holiday Group admin costs (printing, postage etc) which we hope you will understand.

Our Agenda will be:

  1. Review of our trip to Amsterdam and the Keukenhoff Gardens (April 2019)
  2. North Wales holiday 24th - 28th June - final arrangements for the trip including the optional excursion.
  3. Bletchley Park & Cambridge 2nd - 4th August. Couple of rooms still available if anyone wants to book.  We will also discuss pick up points and the return journey trip to Belton House and Gardens.
  4. Holidays 2020 - early discussions and ideas
  5.  Christmas lunch 14th November  - venue ideas welcome.
  6.  Any other business / items for discussions
  7. Date of next meeting:  Thursday 12th September 

Monday, 24 June 2019 - Snowdonia & Gems of North Wales - Ambassador Hotel, Llandudno

We will be travelling out on Monday 24th June. LAST FEW ROOMS STILL AVAILABLE SO BOOK NOW. WE WOULD LOVE YOU TO JOIN US.

DBB £369 PER PERSON. Single rooms currently all allocated - £40 supplement for additional single rooms subject to availability. PRICE INCLUSIVE OF EXCURSIONS

Proposed programme: 

Day 1: Depart Sherburn and local collection points and head towards our hotel in Llandudno, Wales

Day 2: After breakfast journey towards Portmeirion Village, a purpose built holiday destination that was used for the popular 1960’s TV series, The Prisoner. Later we will take a scenic ride from Porthmadog on the famous Ffestiniog Railway.

Day 3: Choice: Free day to explore Llandudno or optional excursion (additional cost).

Day 4: Today enjoy a visit to the Isle of Anglesey. Spend some time in Beaumaris before a boat cruise along the Menai Straits.

Day 5: Time to say fond farewells before departing for home with a visit to Chester en-route.

Friday, 2 August 2019 - Bletchley Park & Cambridge - Royal Cambridge Hotel

FINAL FEW ROOMS REMAINING - DON'T MISS OUT, CONTACT HAZEL TODAY TO BOOK ON THIS HOLIDAY. Responding to significant interest, the Holiday Group is pleased to announce a 3 day/2night break in August when we will be visiting Bletchley Park (home of the Codebreakers) and Cambridge. £229pp Bed and Breakfast, with the option to include dinner - £249pp DBB. The cost of admission to Bletchley Park is included. We have secured a number of single rooms with no supplement but these will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Travelling on Friday 2nd August we journey towards the highlight of our weekend, a visit to Bletchley Park. This is a heritage attraction which played a major role in World War II producing secret intelligence which had a big influence on the outcome of the conflict. We will be staying at the Royal Cambridge Hotel enabling us to spend Saturday 3rd August exploring the many attractions of this wonderful city. As we make our way home on Sunday 4th August, we plan to make a stop en-route at a point of interest (Belton House & Gardens) to make the most of our weekend break. Whilst we have a list of people who have already expressed their interest, it is essential that you now secure your place by emailing . At this stage, full payment will be required at time of booking. (cheques payable to Just for Groups) and sent to Hazel asap - please indicate if you wish the BB or DBB option, and the room type required at the time of booking.
