Report on Flower Arranging Group Meeting - Harrogate Spring Flower Show, Thursday, 24 April 2014

A group of flower arrangers had a fantastic day at the Harrogate Spring Flower show. The sun shone, the company was excellent and the flowers …. Well they were amazing. The competition was varied and well supported in the Floral Hall. The exhibits had been judged and then we did our own judging; not always as the official judge had done. The flowers, colours and accessories filled the marquee. Two of the U3A flower arrangers had exhibited with the Yorkshire Flower Club whose title was ‘Dance’. Julie and Val did a marvellous, intricate dress denoting Jazz. Very well done to them both. For the rest of the day we watched demo’s, spoke with stallholders and the advice freely given from the Allotment Society was so useful. The day was over all too quickly and then laden with seedlings, veg plants, greenery and flowers for the garden we set off back home, weary but happy.
