Report on Book Group Meeting - Meeting, Monday, 8 February 2016

The Book Group met on the 8th February to discuss "The Invention of Wings" by Sue Monk Kidd. The book is a fictional story, based on the true-life events of Sarah Grimké and her slave, Hetty (also known as Handful) who was given to Sarah, much to her horror, as an eleventh birthday present. The story is narrated, in alternating chapters, by Sarah and Handful and follows their lives to adulthood. Most members of the group found the story interesting and well told and marks (out of ten) ranged between 10 and 6 with an average of 7.8.
Our book for this month is " The Legacy of Hartlepool Hall" by Paul Torday and we shall meet on the 14th March to discuss it.
