Report on Book Group Meeting - Meeting, Monday, 13 June 2016

Our recent book "Do No Harm" by the neurosurgeon, Henry Marsh, certainly generated a lively discussion. Some members of the group found the book frightening and didn't read much beyond the first chapter; another person was too squeamish to read more than the introduction. The rest of us alternated between finding the book fascinating, painfully honest about mistakes and failures and annoying in parts because of the flippant remarks about Clinical Governance which was introduced to protect patients and staff alike. Many of us found Henry Marsh quite arrogant and we were unsure of the group of readers this book was aimed at. Marks, out of 10, ranged from zero to 9 with an average score of 5½.
Our book for discussion on the 11th July is "The Last Letter From Your Lover" by JoJo Moyes.
