Report on Book Group Meeting - Meeting, Monday, 12 February 2018

The Book Group read 'Birdcage Walk' by Helen Dunmore. It is difficult to write a synopsis of our discussion as opinions differed quite widely, some became bored with the book and stopped reading it, others thoroughly enjoyed it! We all agreed that the book was well written but we all disagreed with the various critiques that had been written about it. The themes of life in the 1700's, the building trade in Bristol, the life of English radicals at the time of the French Revolution, and a murder story all ran along together to the pleasure of some group members and the disbelief of others! The book scored an average of 6.
Our next book is 'Sleeping in the Ground' by Peter Robinson.
