Report on Book Group Meeting - Meeting, Monday, 14 May 2018

The group met last night to review Susan Lewis's novel "Hiding in Plain Sight". The book is part of a series about ex-detective Andee Lawrence but can be read as a stand-alone novel. On a bit of a pedantic note we all agreed that Andee's name (abbreviation for Andrea)was irritating as was the name of another character, Rowzee - presumably Rosie! However we agreed that the book was a page-turner in as much as we all wanted to know what was going to happen next and there were many social issues such as surrogacy, drug and sexual abuse and possible people-trafficking which were all introduced into the story. Parts of the plot seemed unbelievable and I think we all felt that the happy ending was rather contrived.
One member thought that the book was probably a good holiday read and was easy to put down - and forget! Our scores ranged between 6 and 8 with an overall average of 7.
We shall meet next month to discuss "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak.
