Report on Book Group Meeting - Meeting, Monday, 8 July 2019
The group met last Monday to discuss "Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine" by Gail Honeyman. We were interested in reading this book as it had been number one in the best-selling lists for well over a year. We were very divided in our opinions which ranged from "I hated it, it was badly written" to "I loved very moment and cannot wait for the next book from this author". We discussed Eleanor's character as it was central to the plot and also discussed whether we thought that Eleanor was on the autistic spectrum or if her personality was the resulty of the trauma she had suffered as a child; it was a lively discussion! Scores ranged from 3 to 10/10 and averaged 7.
We shall meet on 12th August to discuss "A Gentleman in Moscow" by Amor Towles.
